My Story

I learned how to face fear long before I learned how to understand it.

I grew up as a shy, sensitive child in an environment where being gentle did not always feel safe. I struggled in school, experienced bullying and rejection, and often questioned whether I was strong enough for the world around me.

My father saw that fear in me. A former Marine and police officer, he believed I needed to learn how to stand my ground. He spent hours teaching me self-defense, enrolled me in martial arts, and pushed me to face things I would have rather avoided. Over time, I became less timid and more courageous.

But as I grew older, I became interested in a different question: What happens to the fear after we learn how to survive it?

That question has stayed with me. It led me to become curious about the ways trauma, childhood experiences, rejection, and fear can continue to influence us long after we have learned how to function, succeed, or appear strong on the outside.

It is also why I have spent much of my life asking: What actually helps people create lasting change?

Today, I bring that same curiosity into the therapy room. I believe there is often a story underneath the reaction, the fear, the resentment, or the way we learned to cope. My role is to help you understand that story and begin changing what no longer needs to follow you forward.
